A Brief History

![\"\\"\\"\"](\"\\"../../img/parish/22.jpg\\"\") In 1923 under the pastoral care of the Parish Priest of Covelong more than 30 families were baptised in this rural area located about 60 Kms from Chennai on the Old Mahabalipuram Road. Later Koothavakkam became Sub Station of Mahabalipuram. In 1961 Fr. Thomas Varikatt built the Church of St. John de Britto, a Convent for the sisters, a dispensary and St. Joseph’s School. The Church was started here between 1963 - 1966 and was made a separate Parish. The Annual Feast of the Pairsh is celebrated on 4th February. |
