The early Karnatic Jesuit Mission had erected a Church in Karuveppampoondi in the beginning of the 18th Century. The Jesuit Fr. Courbeville came to Malligapuram along with Fr. Mauduit and established their missionary base in 1710. In 1711 both of them were poisoned by their brahmin cook and other enemies of faith. The church dedicated to St. Antony was built in 1936. Later in 1970 this Parish was bifurcated from the Parish of Ongur and Fr. G. Susai was the first Parish Priest. The Church was renovated and blessed on 13th June 2009 by Rt. Rev. Dr. Neethinathan, bishop of Chingleput. The Parish Annual Feast is celebrated on 13th June.
