A small chapel was built by the Dutch Missionaries at Sadurangapatinam sometime towards the end of 17th century. In 1787 the Bishop of Mylapore Most Rev. Dom Manoel de Jesu had appointed Fr. Patricio de Jose as the Parish Priest of Sadras. For a long period of time we have no historical details. In 1851 this coastal area became the sub station of Pallavaram and came under the jurisdiction of Propaganda and again came under the Mission Center of Arcot. This Parish was revived again in 1973 and Fr. Thomas Varikatt was made the Parish Priest. From 1996 the pastoral needs of the Parish is taken care by the Congregation of the Precious Blood.
