In 1975 this Sagaya Madha Mission was started in a remote village set up with a few Catholic families. When the Salesians were catering to the pastoral needs of Chingleput Mission, in Melrosapuram a devout  lady, Mrs. Cecilia who was a Hindu brahmin convert, had donated her property to the Church. Later the Catholic population in Maraimalainagar grew up to a larger proportions. Hence for reasons of pastoral convenience the Parish Priest of Melrosapuram began to reside in its substaion - Maraimalainagar. When the Diocese of Chingleput came into existence, the Junior Seminary was brought here for its calm and serene village ambience in 2004 and  Melrosapuram was revived as a Parish. Again when the Seminary was shifted from here to Mudichur, the campus was converted into a Centre for the Diocesan Youth Commission & SC/ST Commission. The Parish annual feast is celebrated on the nearest weekend to 24th May.
