![\"\"](\"../../img/parish/7.jpg\") The existence of Christianity at Cheyyur dates back to 1716, known from the registers of Pondicherry Mission in which seven Baptisms were recorded. In 1751 Mrs. Dupleix, the wife of the Governor of Pondicherry, handed over the mission of Cheyyur along with Kadapakkam to the Jesuits and later to the Capuchins. In 1898 Msgr. Gandhi separated Cheyyur from Thatchoor Parish and appointed a Priest incharge of this village. In 1902 a presbytery and a convent were constructed by Fr.Grandjanny MEP, from the funds coming from his own family in France. In 1911 Most Rev. Dr. Morel, Bishop of Madras-Mylapore blessed it. In 1926,
Fr. Grandjanny MEP began to construct a church that was later called “the jewel of the mission”. The Parish Annual feast is celebrated on 24th May.
