A Brief History

This Parish has a traditional history of a saintly lady Kitheriammal who lived here for many years and died around 1952. The people of that time buried her within the Parish premises. Many people used to pray to this lady around the cemetery and experienced many miracles. In fact, a small shed that was built later came to be called Kiththeriammal koil. Huge crowds of people from far off villages used to come together to pray and celebrate her feast annually. In 1960 this Parish was bifurcated from the Parish of Pallavaram by Most Rev. Dr. Louis Mathias the Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore. The Parish Annual Feast is celebrated in the third week after Easter.
