In 1830 the Parish Priest of Pallavaram started this Parish mission. A few Catholic families hailing from and around Dharkast used to attend the liturgical celebrations in a thatched shed. In 1955 Dharkast was made into a Parish. The Parish has given several priestly vocations to the Diocese as well as to the church at large. The former Archbishop of Madras – Mylapore, Most Rev. Dr. Arulappa himself hailed from this Parish. The Parish comprises of three Sub Stations. It is known for the stone quaries. The Parish Annual Feast is celebrated on the fourth Thursday after Easter.
